Equity Donations

Although My Tribe Events and the activities taking place during My Tribe Months must be Blak-owned and led, that doesn’t mean non-Black people can’t support in other ways. We welcome the support of our friends, allies and accomplices. Below are some ways you can get involved.

We call these ways Equity Donations as they are made with the understanding that structural racism has prevented the Black community from growing and accessing the same opportunities and finances as others.

Venue
Are you a venue owner who is willing to give your space over for Black-owned productions during Blak Futures Month or other My Tribe Months? One of the biggest issues for the Black community is access to space. There are a tiny amount of Black-owned venues in the UK and no large ones due to access to finance and anti-Black policies like 'form 696' which shut many Black-owned venues down, along with institutional anti-Black racism which stops Black organisations from growing to the size where they can afford to take on such spaces. Whilst we help change the Black-owned venue and institutions landscape you can help the Black community in the meantime. Your venue could be used for plays, workshops, comedy shows, healing space, fashion shows etc.
